World’s first private Boeing 747-8 with interiors matching that of a super-yacht

 Boeing’s third generation 747 commercial jet, the 747-8, is the world’s longest passenger jet.

The massive wide-body jet airliner can carry more than 450 passengers in a cabin 20 feet wide and more than 200 feet long. There are even reports that the next Air Force One will be based on a Boeing 747-8. Meanwhile, a company named Greenpoint Technologies, based in Kirkland, Washington, has rolled out a first-of-its kind 747-8 with a completely customized VIP interior. Built for an undisclosed private owner, Greenpoint took three long years to complete the jet. Using the massive space of the aircraft as a blank canvas, the company turned the $368 million Boeing 747-8 into a flying mega-yacht.

 Greenpoint has released few details about it, declining to name the client or provide photos of the finished product. Instead, they have released some conceptual digital renderings that suggest what the interior might be like, showing a dining room, two spacious lounge areas, a master bedroom suite, a guest bedroom, and office space. The project was completed in December last year and though Greenpoint refused to disclosed how much its client paid for the interior work, however, according to reports, the owner spent in excess of $250 million to customize the 747-8.

The Falcon 5X, the latest jet by Dassault Aviation

After six years of labor, the Dassault Aviation Group has unveiled, on the 21st of October during the NBAA (National Business Aviation Association) in Las Vegas, its brand new business jet: the Falcon 5X.

The Falcon 5X has just completed the business aircrafts range of the French Group Dassault, becoming consequently the most advanced and trendiest of the Falcon family.

The Falcon 5X, absolute comfort

This business jet is a new generation large range that can accommodate up to 8 passengers and 3 staff members on a distance of 9600 km without stopover.
Unlike the old model (SMS), the Falcon 5X is not a business jet of super Mid-sized category. In fact it’s a long haul business aircraft of incredible comfort:
– A spacious cabin of 50 m3, mainly the largest on the market, with a “zenithal porthole”, one of the newest innovations of the aircraft that brings in natural lighting. Another innovation: the Falcon Cabin HD+ system allowing wireless content management (TV, iPad, multimedia server, iTunes media center, videos…). At last, an advanced air filter system giving the possibility to maintain easy breathing, is equipping genuinely the Falcon 5X.
-An extremely modern flight deck equipped of a 3rd generation Easy cockpit, ensures a better piloting experience with four wide angle windows, a large seating and a real time maintenance controlling system, enhancing visual perspective, comfort and pilots’ concentration.

Private Jet Falcon 7X

The long range Falcon 7X will soon become the first business jet certified to operate at Daocheng Yading, the world’s highest commercial airport.

The certification campaign at Daocheng, situated in China’s Sichuan province at an altitude of 14,470 ft (4,411 m), was initiated at the request of Chinese customers and is intended to meet demand in Western China for business jets capable of operating at the many small high altitude airports in the region.

The campaign, which began on August 25 and concluded on September 7, enjoyed strong support from the European and Chinese civil aviation authorities EASA and CAAC. Daocheng flight tests started after a series of preliminary flights at Jiuzhai Huang Long Airport near Chengdu (altitude 11,311 ft/3,448 m) with a CAAC pilot at the controls. After an initial landing at Daocheng - the highest ever by a business jet - the 7X performed engines/APU run up followed by a series of takeoffs and landings including some with simulated engine failure. Once finalized the approval will permit the Falcon 7X to operate at altitudes up to 15,000 ft.

“The aircraft handled flawlessly in all conditions of flight and the engines, APUs and pressurizationsystems performed perfectly,” said Philippe Dumas, Dassault Aviation test pilot “This performancehighlights the unparalleled ability of the 7X to operate from difficult short airstrips in the most challengingconditions.”

In addition to setting a new world altitude record for a business jet, the test campaign established a number of other benchmarks for aviation in China. It was the first flight test campaign undertaken over Chinese territory by a foreign registered aircraft, and it will be the first approval to be issued jointly by EASA and CAAC.

The Daocheng certification campaign follows recent 7X demonstration flights at challenging airports such as Saint-Tropez, France, Gstaat in Switzerland and a Mach 0.88 cruise speed record between Teterboro, New Jersey and London City Airport set in May.

“These performance benchmarks highlight the incomparable operating flexibility of the Falcon 7X,” said Chairman and CEO Eric Trappier. “Together with its great range, speed and operating economy, this helps explain the immense popularity of the 7X in the burgeoning Chinese market.”

In recent years, China has emerged as one of the biggest markets for business aviation aircraft and the Falcon line, led by the 7X, has seized a commanding share in this market. Nearly 30 Falcon 7X s are currently flying in the country, making China the second largest market for the long range trijet, after the United States. And with the recently introduced Falcon 5X very large body twin and ultra long range Falcon 8X, the Falcon brand is expected to lead the Chinese market for many years to come.

Dassault Announces Ultra Long Range Falcon 8X

Dassault Aviation launched the Falcon 8X, the newest addition to the Falcon family in the ultra long range category. The Falcon 8X will offer a range of 6,450 nm (11,945 km) and will feature the longest cabin of any Falcon. Moreover, it will offer the same low operating economics and the remarkable operating flexibility for which all Falcons are known.

“The Falcon 8X will be the longest cabin of any Falcon. But, more importantly, it will feature the highest level of customization of any large cabin business jet on the market,” said Eric Trappier, Dassault Aviation Chairman and CEO.

Indeed, the Falcon 8X cabin will be 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m) high and 7 ft 8 in (2.34 m) wide and 42 ft 8 in (13 m) long, enabling it to offer customers the most diverse selection of cabin layouts on the market. More than 30 configurations will be available.

Three galley sizes, two with a crew-rest option, are available. Operators will have an extensive selection of passenger seating areas of varying lengths that can support different lavatory layouts, including a lavatory with shower.

“It builds on Dassault expertise in aerodynamics, in precision design and manufacturing, and in advanced digital flight controls. It embodies the best of Falcons that have come before with the most capability of any Falcon ever,” said Trappier.

Legendary Falcon Performance 

The Falcon 8X will be equipped with three PW307D engines delivering 6,722 lbs of thrust each – a 5% increase compared to the PW307A that powers the Falcon 7X. Therefore, with eight passengers and three crew, the Falcon 8X will be capable of flying 6,450 nm non-stop at M.80. These new engines will also make the 8X up to 35% more fuel efficient than any other aircraft in the ultra-long range segment and offer a significant reduction in community noise and NOx emissions.

Moreover, the Falcon 8X will also be fitted with a redesigned ultra-efficient wing derived from the Falcon 7X. The wing structure has been redesigned to minimize the overall aircraft drag during cruise while achieving a 600 lb weight saving. It will also feature optimized leading edge profile and winglets. These improvements are expected to increase significantly the lift to drag ratio.

Like the Falcon 7X, the Falcon 8X will be capable of approaches up to 6 degrees, allowing it to serve challenging airports such as London City Airport; Aspen, Colorado; La Mole (Saint-Tropez), France; and Saanen (Gstaad), Switzerland that are normally not accessible to most large cabin aircraft. With its 6,450 nm range, the Falcon 8X will be also able to perform an extensive list of one-leg missions such as Beijing to New York, Hong Kong to Seattle, Paris to Singapore and Sao Paulo to Moscow.

Finally, the Falcon 8X will be equipped with a totally redesigned cockpit modeled after the Falcon 5X. It will feature a new generation of the EASy flight deck equipped with a head-up display that combines synthetic and enhanced vision and offer a dual HUD capability.

First flight is expected in early 2015 with certification in the middle of 2016 and initial deliveries before the end of 2016.
